New Chicken Producer

As our sales have continued to grow, we've realized the need to bring on a farm partner to grow chicken for us so that we can focus our efforts on raising our other products.

I'm pleased to share that we're partnering with Noah Miller from Arthur IL to raise our Pastured Chicken for us! Noah is a perfect fit since he was already raising chickens on his organic pastures similar to how we were doing it. He's also just a couple miles away from the chicken processor which makes getting them processed a breeze.

It's neat to be able to partner with and support another farmer to help fill the demand for clean, nutrient-dense food! Noah as an Amish asked that we don't take pictures of his family so out of respect of that I don't have any pictures of him.

It takes a lot of work to raise clean, pasture-raised chicken!

✅ Vaccine Free

First we have to make sure the chicks that we get are vaccine free... It's actually standard practice at some hatcheries to vaccinate the chicks while they are still in the eggs either through a spray-on vaccine that is absorbed through the shell, or with a very fine needle that is inserted through the shell into the chick! Thankfully, we are able to decline the vaccine!

* Note - The first batch of chicken from Noah had two vaccines given to them as chicks that were mandatory from the hatchery as we were not able to line up another hatchery early enough. However, future chicks will come from a different hatchery that does not require vaccines.

✅GMO-Free AND Chemical-Free feed

While non-GMO is very important, it can still be sprayed with chemicals. We make sure to source grains that are not only GMO-free but also chemical-free!

✅Truly Pastured

This is where the sweat and hard work comes in! We make sure our chickens are frequently moved to new pasture. This moving is VERY important as it allows the chickens to enjoy a smorgasbord of clover, grass, seeds, bugs, and insects - all while breathing clean, fresh air and soaking in the sunshine!

Pasture Raised Vs Confinement Chicken

I think the pictures speak for themselves. There truly is no comparison when you look at confinement barn chicken compared to pasture raised chicken!

When compared to conventional chicken, pasture raised chicken has up to:

✅3x more long-chain omega-3s
✅90% lower omega 6:3 ratio

✅1.5x more vitamins A, D, and E

This is also compared to chicken that is labeled as "free range" or "organic" but still raised in confinement barns. Things are just better when you raise chicken outside on green growing grass!

To us pasture raised chicken isn't just a label. It is a completely different system that is better for the land, the animals, and YOU!
