First we have to make sure the chicks that we get are vaccine free... It's actually standard practice at some hatcheries to vaccinate the chicks while they are still in the eggs either through a spray-on vaccine that is absorbed through the shell, or with a very fine needle that is inserted through the shell into the chick! Thankfully, we are able to decline the vaccine!✅Soy Free, Chemical Free, and GMO Free feed
Finding feed that is GMO-free, chemical-free, AND soy-free gets to be a bit tricky! After multiple phone calls and lots of searching, I was able to find a feed mill that was able to supply us with this kind of feed!✅Truly Pastured
This is where the sweat and hard work comes in! "The chicken ladies" (my sisters and their friend) do a great job of moving the chickens to fresh pasture - EVERY SINGLE DAY! This moving is VERY important as it allows the chickens to enjoy a smorgasbord of clover, grass, seeds, bugs, and insects - all while breathing clean, fresh air and soaking in the sunshine!
Because of these daily moves to fresh pasture, the meat is 3-4 times higher in Omega-3s and CLAs compared to industrial grocery store chicken!
